National Media Commission Announces Vacancy for the Position of Director Corporate Affairs

The National Media Commission (NMC) is looking for a suitably qualified, goal-oriented, and results-driven person with exceptional leadership qualities for appointment to the position of DIRECTOR CORPORATE AFFAIRS.

JOB PURPOSE:

To provide strategic leadership and oversight in Corporate Affairs, driving the Commission’s objectives forward through effective administration, technical guidance, and operational management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Coordinates the development and implementation of short-term and long-term communications strategies for the Commission
  • Coordinates the development of public relations strategies to promote the corporate image of the Commission.
  • Ensures the implementation of public relations activities.
  • Coordinates the design of best media practice to promote the corporate image of the Commission.
  • Establishes rapport between the Commission and major players in the media industry, both domestically and internationally.
  • Coordinates the preparation of public relations reports to Management
  • Coordinates the conduction of analyses of media landscape, especially on publications in the print and electronic media
  • Supervises and appraises the performance of subordinate staff in the Unit

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

DIRECT ENTRY

  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Communication Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field from an accredited institution
  • A member of the Institute of Public Relations
  • A minimum of six (6) years of post-qualification relevant work experience in a reputable organisation.
  • Must pass a competitive selection interview.

IN-SERVICE ENTRY

  • Availability of vacancy in the grade of Principal Corporate Affairs Manager.
  • A minimum of three years (3) years in the grade of Senior Corporate Affairs Manager.
  • Must have a satisfactory Staff Performance Report Assessment
  • Must pass a competitive selection interview.

COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent Human Relations skills
  • Fluency in any other international language besides English, preferably French
  • Familiarity with the operations and management of the Commission
  • Information Analysis and Management Skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate
