The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform all Basic School heads, teachers, learners, and stakeholders of the approved 2026/2027 Academic Calendar for Basic Schools (Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior High Schools).

Details of the calendar are as follows:

FIRST TERM (15 WEEKS).

Mid-Term Break: 5 & 6th November, 2026 (2 days)

SECOND TERM (12 WEEKS)        

THIRD TERM (14 WEEKS).

Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE):

The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, 5th May to 12th May, 2027.

GES wishes to remind all stakeholders that public holidays within the academic year are to be observed accordingly.

In addition, a two-day mid-term break will be observed in each term for all basic schools.

All heads of schools, teachers, parents, and guardians are urged to take note of these dates and ensure adequate preparation for a smooth and effective academic year.
