Mfantsipim SHS Final-Year Student Found Dead in Cape Coast; Police Confirm Suicide.

A final-year student of Mfantsipim Senior High School in Cape Coast has been confirmed dead, with the Central Regional Police Command stating that investigations indicate the case was a death by suicide.

The deceased, identified as Emmanuel Arthur, 17, was discovered at an uncompleted building in the Ola North area of Cape Coast after a carpenter working at the site alerted the police.

According to a statement from the police, officers responded to the report on June 11, 2026, and recovered a black backpack containing examination materials, including a Geography mock examination paper bearing the student’s name. Two mobile phones and other personal belongings were also retrieved from the scene.

Subsequent investigations led to the identification of the deceased as a final-year student of Mfantsipim Senior High School. School authorities assisted in confirming his identity, while his family was duly informed of the development.

Police indicated that a pathologist at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital examined the remains before they were released to the family for burial. Authorities also carried out fumigation at the location where the body was discovered.

The Central Regional Police Command stated that investigations conducted so far point to a death by suicide. However, the factors and circumstances that may have contributed to the incident have not yet been established.

Police say investigations remain ongoing and that any additional findings will be communicated in due course.
