Ghana Armed Forces to Open 2026/2027 Recruitment Portal (04 Sept): See Entry Requirements for Regular Career Officer Course Candidates for Air Force.

 

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) is set to open its recruitment portal for the 2026/2027 Military Enlistment Exercise on Friday, September 4, 2026, giving eligible Ghanaians an opportunity to apply to join the Armed Forces.

The recruitment exercise will cover various categories of applicants, including prospective regular cadets and candidates seeking admission through the Regular Career Officer Course.

The announcement follows the government’s broader commitment to annual recruitment into the country’s security services.

E-Voucher sales to begin September 3

According to the recruitment notice, applicants will first be required to obtain an electronic voucher to access the application process.

The sale of recruitment E-vouchers will begin on Thursday, September 3, 2026, and end on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

The vouchers will be available at designated Ghana Post offices at a cost of GHC200, after which eligible applicants can proceed with their online applications when the recruitment portal opens.

Applicants are advised to carefully follow the official recruitment instructions and provide accurate information throughout the application process.

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY

Eligible applicants should:

  • Be a Ghanaian citizen.
  • Be of good character.
  • Not be married (Applicable to Regular Cadets Only).
  • Not be bonded.
  • Be 18 years and not more than 26 years by Thursday, 18 February 2027 (Applicable to Regular Cadets Only).
  • Be medically fit by Ghana Armed Forces Standards.
  • Must pass the Pre-Joining Fitness Test.
  • Be of minimum height of 1.68m (5’6″) for males and 1.60m (5’2″) for females. For Military Police only, the minimum height for male applicants should be 1.75m (5’9″) and 1.70m (5’7″) for females. and

Must have the following:

  • Six (6) Credits (Grade 16) at BECE including English, Mathematics and Science.
  • Six (6) Credits (Grade A1 to C6) including Core English, Core Mathematics and Core Science. Or
  • Six (6) Credits (Grade A to D) including Core English, Core Mathematics and Core Science. Or
  • GCE ‘O’ & ‘A’ Levels. Five (5) Credits (Grade 1-6) including English Language and Mathematics at GCE ‘O’ Level and Grade A-D in three subjects at GCE ‘A’ Level.

(NB. Transcripts and Attestations at the stage of Documentation will not be accepted).

  • Proficiency in any of these languages (French, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, German and Swahili) is highly desirable and an added advantage.

REGULAR CAREER OFFICER COURSE CANDIDATES; AIR FORCE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS.

#01. OPERATIONS.

In addition to the general eligibility criteria, applicants must have read General Science (Physics, Chemistry, Elective Mathematics and Biology/Geography/Agricultural Science) at the Senior High School level and have a Bachelor of Science Degree not below Second Class Lower from an accredited University/Institution in any of the following:

  • BSc Physics.
  • BSc Mathematics.
  • BSc Chemistry.
  • BSc Computer Science.

NB: In addition to any of the stated courses above, applicants with a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) have an added advantage.

#02. Air Traffic Control Operations.

  • BSc Physics.
  • BSc Mathematics.
  • BSc Geography (Including BA Geography).
  • BSc Chemistry.
  • BSc Computer Science.
  • BSc Meteorology,

NB: Applicants with an Aerodrome/Approach Control License in addition to any of the stated courses above have an added advantage.

#03. ENGINEERING BRANCH.

In addition to the general eligibility criteria, applicants must have a Bachelor of Science Degree not below Second Class Lower from an accredited Univer-sity/Institution in any of the following:

Mechanical.

  • BSc Aerospace Engineering.
  • BSc Aeronautical Engineering.
  • BSc Mechanical Engineering.
  • BSc Agricultural Engineering.

Avionics.

  • BSc Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • BSc Computer Engineering.
  • BSc Aerospace Engineering.

#04. SUPPLY BRANCH.

In addition to the general eligibility criteria, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from an accredited University/Institution in any of the following:

  • BSc/BBA/BA/BCom Administration, Accounting, Marketing and Purchasing.
  • BSc/BBA/BA Commerce.
  • BSc/BBA/BA Economics.
  • Web Programming.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
  • Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE).
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA).
  • Consumer Communication & Network Conference (CCNC)
  • Server Management.
  • Ethical Hacking.
  • Cyber Security.
  • COMPTIA A+
  • Networking Engineering.
  • COMPTIA N+.
  • Cloud Computing.
  • Cryptography
  • Database Management.
  • Hardware Engineering.

#05. ORDNANCE CORPS.

In addition to the general eligibility criteria, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from an accredited University/Institution in the following:

  • BSc/BBA/BA/BTech Logistics/Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
  • BSc/BA/BTech Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

NB: Professional certification from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or Chartered Institute of Logistics and Supply Chain Management (CISCM) in addition to any of the stated courses above is an advantage.

#06. Administration Branch.

In addition to the general eligibility criteria, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from an accredited University/Institution in any of the following:

  • BSc/BA in Business Administration or BBA
  • BA Arts or Social Science.
  • BA Sociology.
  • BA Psychology.
  • BA Social Work.
  • BA International Relations/Studies.
  • BA Political Science.
  • BA Social Behaviour and Conflict Management.

#07. Information Technology Officers.

In addition to the general eligibility criteria, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from an accredited University/Institution in any of the following:

Electrical/Electronic Engineers Branch. In addition to the general eligibility criteria, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from an accredited University/Institution in any of the following:

  • BSc/BTech Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • BSc Biomedical Engineering.

Mechanical Engineers Branch.

In addition to the general eligibility criteria, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from an accredited University/ Institution in any of the following:

  • BSc Agricultural Equipment Engineering. (b)
  • BSc/BTech Mechanical Engineering.
  • BSc Metallurgical Engineering.
  • BSc/BTech Automobile Engineering.

#09. Education Corps.

In addition to the general eligibility criteria, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from an accredited University/Institution in the following:

  • BA/BEd in either French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese or German for Interpretation/Translation.
  • Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree in any discipline.
  • BA in Library and Archival Studies

#10. Records.

In addition to the general eligibility criteria, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from an accredited University/Institution in the following:

  • BSc Information Technology (System Administration).
  • BSc Statistics.
  • BA Information Studies
  • BA in Library and Archival Studies.

#11. Agricultural Extension Officers.

In addition to the general eligibility criteria, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from an accredited University/Institution in the following:

  • BSc Agriculture.
  • BSc Agricultural Extension.
  • BSc Agricultural Education.
  • BSc Agricultural Economics/Agronomy.
  • Bachelor of Horticulture.
  • Bachelor of Animal Science.
  • Bachelor of Soil Science.
  • Bachelor of Crop Science.

#12, Band.

In addition to the general eligibility criteria, applicants must have the following:

  • BA/BEd in Music.
  • Appreciable knowledge in composition/orchestration/conducting.
  • Ability to play at least one musical instrument.
  • Ability to translate and transcribe music.

#13. Public Relations.

In addition to the general eligibility criteria, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from an accredited University/ Institution in any of the following:

  • Communication Studies.
  • Public Relations.
  • Journalism.
  • Fine Arts.
  • Multimedia Production.
  • Communication Design.
  • Production Designs.
  • Motion Picture Photography.
  • Editing

#14. Pay Corps.

In addition to the general eligibility criteria, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from an accredited University/Institution in the following:

  • BSc Administration (Banking and Finance/Accounting Options).
  • BSc Accounting.
  • BSc Finance.
  • BSc Accounting with Computing/ICT.

NB: In addition to the above, certificates in any of the following professional courses will be an added advantage:

  • A fully qualified member of ACCA, ICA OR CIMA.
  • Applicants with qualifications in ICT.

#15. Catering Officers.

In addition to the general eligibility criteria, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from an accredited University/Institution in any of the following:

  • BEd Home Economics.
  • BSc/BA/Tech Hospitality Management.
  • BSc/BA/BTech Hospitality and Tourism Management.
