Adisadel College and Aggrey Memorial Senior High School Suspended From Zonal and Regional Sports for Two (2) Years

Following the conclusion of the recent Inter-School Athletics Competition held at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on the 19th and 20th of February 2026, the Management of the Regional Directorate of Education has taken note of the inappropriate conduct exhibited by students of Adisadel College and Aggrey Memorial Senior High School at a location away from the Cape Coast Sports Stadium after the competition.

Such conduct is considered inconsistent with the standards of discipline, sportsmanship, respect, and responsible behaviour expected of participating schools and their representatives. Schools participating in regional sporting programs are expected to uphold these standards both within competition venues and in activities directly connected to such competitions.

Consequently, and in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations governing regional school sports, Adisadel College and Aggrey Memorial Senior High School are hereby suspended from participating in all zonal and regional sporting programs and competitions with immediate effect for two (2) years starting the 2026/2027 academic year, pending further review of the matter.

As part of the sanctions, the 2 institutions are to

  • Ensure that their students, athletes, coaches, and officials comply fully with this suspension.
  • Cooperate with any investigation or disciplinary proceedings arising from the incident.
  • Take appropriate internal measures to reinforce discipline and acceptable conduct among students and sports representatives.
  • Refrain from representing their respective institutions in zonal and regional sporting activities during the period of suspension.
  • Pay all financial commitments to the zone and region as expected.

The purpose of this action is to uphold discipline, integrity, sportsmanship, and the reputation of school sports within the region.

The institutions are encouraged to treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves and work towards ensuring that similar incidents do not occur in the future.

The development raises concerns about student discipline, sportsmanship, and the need for schools to uphold acceptable standards of conduct at sporting events.
