Central University is at the terminal stages of rolling out Medical (MBChB) degree programmes for both prospective post-SHS graduates (generic) and first-degree holders (GEMP).
The university is therefore embarking on an active recruitment drive to augment its teaching and non-teaching staff for the intended medical programmes.

VACANCY FOR HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS.
Head of Basic Medical Sciences
The Applicant
- Must be at least on the rank of Senior Lecturer from a recognized tertiary institution.
- Must have a PhD or terminal degree in any of the following disciplines (Anatomy, Physiology & Medical Biochemistry).
- Previous experience in similar roles would be an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Provide academic and administrative leadership to department.
- Offer teaching and supervisory services to medical students.
- Fulfill all other obligations for an academic senior member and
- Execute any other role that may be assigned by the Dean or Vice Chancellor.
Head of Para-Clinical Sciences
The Applicant;
- Must be at least on the rank of Senior Lecturer from a recognized tertiary institution.
- Must have a PhD or terminal degree in any of the following disciplines (Medical Microbiology, Pathology, Chemical Pathology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Pharmacology. Haematology).
- Previous experience in similar roles would be an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Provide academic and administrative leadership to department.
- Offer teaching and supervisory services to students.
- Fulfill all other obligations for an academic senior member and
- Execute any other role that may be assigned by the Dean or Vice Chancellor.
Head of Clinical Sciences
The Applicant;
- Must be at least on the rank of Senior Lecturer from a recognized tertiary institution or must have worked as a clinician in public or private practice for a minimum of seven years.
- Must have a PhD or terminal degree (fellowship) or at least membership qualification from a recognized body in any of the following clinical areas (Internal Medicine/Accident & Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine).
- Previous experience in similar roles would be an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Provide academic and administrative leadership to the department.
- Provide clinical services at the yet-to-be-operational Central University Hospital
- Offer teaching and supervisory services to medical students.
- Collaborate with external hospital partners and clinical faculties
- Fulfill all other obligations for an academic senior member and
- Execute any other role that may be assigned by the Dean or Vice Chancellor.

NON-TEACHING STAFF VACANCIES
Laboratory Technologists/Technicians
The Applicant;
- Must hold at least a first degree in Medical Laboratory Science/Biotechnology/Biological Sciences or related disciplines from a recognized tertiary institution.
- A Master’s degree would be an added advantage.
- The preferred candidate should have at least three years of working experience in a related environment and must demonstrate the ability to operate within multiple tissue-related laboratory facilities.
Curator/Academic Mortuary Manager
The Applicant;
- Must hold a first degree, preferably in Mortuary Science or Medical Laboratory Science/Technology or Biological Sciences from a recognized tertiary institution.
- A Master’s degree in Business Management would be an added advantage.
- The preferred candidate must have at least five (5) years of working experience in the embalming of bodies and operation of mortuary services.
Anatomical Pathology Technicians/Mortuary Assistants/Janitors.
The Applicant;
- Must hold a minimum of a Senior High School or Technical School Certificate.
- Diploma or Higher National Diploma (HND) holders may have an advantage.
- Must be at least 25 years of age.
- Previous working experience in a mortuary facility would be an added advantage.
