NSMQ 2026 Regional Competition to be Held After WASSCE.
By a letter written to the National President, Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) by PRIMETIME dated March 27th, 2026 referring to a meeting held between CHASS and Ms. Nana Akua Mensa-Bonsu, Managing Director of Primetime Limited, on Monday, February 23, 2026, during which, among other matters, the rescheduling of the 2026 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) Regional Competitions was discussed.
According to PRIMETIME, they acknowledge the recommendation that the Regional Competitions be held after the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), to allow schools to focus fully on academic preparation.
And following further deliberations, they have indicated the adoption of the recommendation and that the NSMQ 2026 Regional Competitions will therefore be organised after the WASSCE and will be followed immediately by the National Championship.
They also indicated that, while they note this adjustment presents some challenges to their existing production schedule, they will realign their plans accordingly and develop a revised production schedule to effectively accommodate the Regional Competitions after WASSCE.
Additionally, they propose a new registration window to open to allow schools to re-register in due to the revised timelines.
The revised structure and detailed timelines for the Regional Competitions are being worked on, which will be shared as soon as they are ready.
All Heads are to take note and prepare accordindly.
