A Man jailed 18 years for sexually abusing 3 siblings.
A 28-year-old man, Benjamin Kwabena, also known as Wofa Atta, has been sentenced to 18 years’ imprisonment for sexually abusing three young siblings at Ahenema Kokoben near Trede in the Ashanti Region.
The convict was found guilty of abusing an 11-year-old boy, a 4-year-old boy, and their female twin sibling, all children of a 46-year-old charcoal seller.
According to the prosecution, Atta exploited the friendship between his elder sister and the children’s mother to gain access to the victims. He was said to have visited their home frequently with his bicycle and often offered the children rides, which helped him gain their trust.
Investigators told the court that Atta used these visits to build a relationship with the children and later lured them to his home, where the abuse occurred on several occasions.
Evidence presented showed that the first victim was abused on three occasions, the second victim twice, while the third victim was abused once.
The case came to light when the youngest child warned one of her brothers not to follow the accused, revealing the abuse to their mother. The disclosure led to a report being made and the subsequent arrest of Atta.
The court, after considering the evidence and the impact of the crimes, sentenced him to 18 years’ imprisonment.
