#01. Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d) | Small-Animal MRI and Cross‑Species Neuroimaging. 

The Technical University of Munich, TUM University Hospital, and the Max Planck Institute for Biological Intelligence (MPI‑BI) are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher with expertise in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), biological/physiological sciences, and a strong interest in experimental work with small animals. The position is part of the interdisciplinary project WildBrain, which investigates how environmental transitions shape neural plasticity and behavioural individuality across mice and humans.

#03. 3 PhD positions (m/f/d) |Sustainable Metallurgy (Experiment & Simulation)

The International Max Planck Research School for Sustainable Metallurgy (IMPRS SusMet) offers PhD positions for three years for the following projects:

  • Project 1: “Optimizing microwave plasma-based reduction of metal oxides” under the supervision of Prof. von Keudell, Chair for Experimental Physics – Reactive Plasmas at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy, Ruhr University Bochum.
  • Project 2: “In situ studies of the mechanochemical synthesis of intermetallic compounds” under the supervision of Prof. Weidenthaler, Powder Diffraction and Surface Spectroscopy group at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung in Mülheim/Ruhr.
  • Project 3: “Atomistic Investigation of Chemomechanical Processes in the Fe–O System” under the supervision of Prof. Bitzek, Microstructure and Mechanics group at the Max Planck Institute for Sustainable Materials in Düsseldorf.

Qualification

  • Project 1: excellent master’s degree in physics, experience in plasma research
  • Project 2: excellent master’s degree in materials science, chemistry, or solid-state physics. Knowledge in solid-state chemistry, X-ray diffraction, spectroscopy, or electron microscopy is advantageous.
  • Project 3: excellent master’s degree in materials science, physics, or chemistry. Experience with atomistic simulations in a high-performance computing environment, solid knowledge of crystallography, and defects preferred

#04. Doctoral Researcher (m/f/d). 

  • A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Political Science, Sociology, Education, or a closely related discipline;
  • Strong analytical and methodological skills (quantitative and/or qualitative)

  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an international environment.

The following qualifications are desirable:

  • Professional work experience in a related field, including research, international development, public administration, advocacy, and civil society.

  • Experience in engaging with policy-relevant research questions and dissemination beyond academia.

#05. Doctoral Student (m/f/d) | The History of European Union Employment Law. 

  • You hold a first-class or high upper second-class degree, preferably in law, alternatively in a different branch of the humanities or social sciences. You are fully proficient in the English language and willing to learn German if necessary. French language skills are desirable.
  • Your CV should demonstrate your potential to pursue research at a very high international level. You can work independently and are committed to adopting interdisciplinary and comparative approaches.

#06. Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d). 

We seek a Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen (Germany), to explore mammalian brain function using functional MRI or ultrasound imaging.

#09. Global Science Scholars Fellowship. 

The Global Science Scholars Fellowship supports cutting-edge research in bioengineering, biomedical research, biophysics, molecular and cell biology, mathematics, and computer science, including projects that bridge experimental and theoretical approaches. The program is structured as a transatlantic exchange between research environments in Germany and the United States. Fellows are expected to conduct their research outside of the country in which they obtained their doctoral degree.

There are two fellowship tracks:

  • Fellows in residence in Germany will conduct research at a Max Planck Institute in Dresden (MPI-CBG or MPI-PKS).
  • Fellows in residence in the United States will conduct research at a partner institution of the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub (San Francisco, Chicago, or New York)

#10. Postdoctoral Experimental Physicist or Electrical Engineer for the Study of Tokamak Plasma Current Ramp-Up (m/f/d).

#11. Postdoctoral Position (m/f/d) | Rotating convection and 2D turbulence.

The Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS) in Göttingen is one of the world’s leading research institutions in the field of solar physics and planetary research, with around 300 employees. The interdisciplinary research focus is the investigation of the development, diversity, and dynamics of planets, moons, small bodies, the sun, and solar-like stars. #14. Postdoctoral Position (f/m/d) | Integrated Assessment Modeling (Climate–Air Pollution–Economy). 

An open postdoc position is available at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry (MPIC), co-supervised by Prof. Yafang Cheng (Director at MPIC) and Dr. Wenjun Meng (Project Team Leader at MPIC). The project aims at developing an advanced integrated assessment modeling framework that links socio-economic, environmental, and technological factors to understand the impacts of climate and energy policies.

The Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics (MPI-IE) in Freiburg, Germany, is an interdisciplinary research institution that conducts basic research in two key areas of modern biology: Immunobiology and Epigenetics. Central questions address the molecular basis of cell type identities, as they are regulated during immune cell differentiation, metabolic response, and epigenetic chromatin adaptation.

  1. Radiocarbon Laboratory Engineer (m/f/d). 

The MPI for Biogeochemistry seeks an engineer to support the institute’s 14C lab facility, which supports radiocarbon measurements in biogeochemistry and carbon cycle research. The facility is equipped with an IonPlus Micadas accelerator mass spectrometer system with a hybrid ion source that allows for the measurement of graphite targets as well as CO2 gas inlet operation for very small samples. It also has a laboratory for preparation, CO2 purification, and graphitization of samples, with automation involved in several processes. The 14C laboratory staff includes a laboratory head, an engineer (open position), and two chemical technical assistants specializing in sample pretreatment and graphitization.

The joint CiM-IMPRS graduate program of the International Max Planck Research School – Molecular Biomedicine and Münster’s Cells in Motion Interfaculty Centre offers positions to pursue PhD projects in the diverse areas of the life sciences. We are looking for young scientists (m/f/d) with a strong interest in interdisciplinary projects to image cell dynamics from the subcellular to the patient level.
