Recruitment2026: Wiawso College of Education Invites Applications for Vacant Principal, Vice Principal, and Teaching Staff Positions.

Wiawso College of Education is a faith-based public tertiary institution in the Western North Region of Ghana, dedicated to preparing highly competent, reflective, and morally upright professional teachers.

In accordance with the provisions of the Colleges of Education Act, 2012 (Act 847), the Education Regulatory Bodies Act, 2020 (Act 1023), the Statutes of Wiawso College of Education, and the Harmonised Conditions of Service for Colleges of Education in Ghana, applications are invited from suitably qualified and interested persons for consideration for appointment to the position of:

COLLEGE PRINCIPAL.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the attainment of the mission, vision, and objectives of the College;
  • Exercise general responsibility over the academic, administrative, and financial affairs of the College,
  • Ensure the implementation of decisions of the Governing Council and the Academic Board,
  • Promote excellence in teaching, learning, research, innovation, and community engagement
  • Foster a culture of integrity, accountability, discipline, and professionalism consistent with the College’s faith-based ethos;
  • Mobilise resources, grants, and partnerships for institutional development;
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with staff, students, alumni, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders;
  • Promote and safeguard the image and reputation of the College;
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, statutes, policies, and regulations governing Colleges of Education in Ghana and
  • Perform any other functions assigned under the relevant statutes and conditions of service.

Qualifications and Experience.

The candidate must:

  • Be a distinguished scholar and a master teacher,
  • Possess a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution;
  • Hold a rank not below that of Associate Professor in a College of Education, university, or comparable institution;
  • Have at least ten (10) years of progressive teaching and/or research experience, including a minimum of five (5) years in a senior management or leadership position:
  • Demonstrate proven leadership and managerial competence with a track record of institutional development;
  • Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills;
  • Demonstrate the ability to formulate and implement strategic plans and policies;
  • Have the capacity to inspire confidence, motivate staff, and foster teamwork,
  • Exhibit high moral character, integrity, fairness, and impartiality in decision-making:
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of Ghana’s higher education system, educational reforms, and national development priorities,
  • Demonstrate commitment to the Christian values and faith-based identity of the College.

Terms of Appointment.

Applicants must not be more than fifty-six (56) years of age at the time of application:

The appointment shall be for an initial term of four (4) years and may be renewed for one additional term only, subject to satisfactory performance and applicable regulations;

Salaries and conditions of service for the position shall be in accordance with the Harmonised Conditions of Service for Colleges of Education in Ghana and the College’s approved terms of appointment.


COLLEGE VICE PRINCIPAL.

Job Description:

  • Assist the Principal in the day-to-day administration of the College,
  • Act in the absence of the Principal;
  • Coordinate the activities of various academic and non-academic departments to ensure operational efficiency;
  • Support the implementation of policies and decisions of the Governing Council and Academic Board;
  • Promote the College’s faith-based ethos and values in all aspects of institutional life;
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal in accordance with the relevant Statutes and Conditions of Service governing Colleges of Education in Ghana.

Qualifications and Experience.

The candidate must:

  • Be a distinguished scholar and a master teacher,
  • Possess a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree or an equivalent qualification in a relevant area of specialisation;
  • Hold a rank not below that of Professor or Senior Lecturer in a College of Education or a comparable tertiary institution;
  • Have at least ten (10) years of progressive experience in teaching and/or research, including a minimum of five (5) years in a senior management or leadership position:
  • Demonstrate proven leadership and managerial capabilities, with the ability to work effectively in teams:
  • Exhibit high moral character and commitment to the values of integrity, service, and excellence;
  • Inspire confidence and provide effective leadership, direction, and motivation to staff and other stakeholders;
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to manage and resolve crises effectively,
  • Demonstrate sound judgment, fairness, and impartiality in decision-making:
  • Have proven ability to lead teams and manage institutional resources efficiently and effectively;
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of the higher education landscape and Ghana’s educational policies, priorities, and development goals.

Terms of Appointment.

Applicants must not be more than fifty-six (57) years of age at the time of application;

Salaries and conditions of service are attractive and comparable to similar positions in Ghana:

Job description:

  • Teach courses in their respective subject areas at the undergraduate level;
  • Prepare teaching and learning materials and assess students’ academic work;
  • Supervise students’ projects, practicum and other academic activities;
  • Undertake research and publish in reputable scholarly outlets;
  • Participate in curriculum development and review;
  • Serve on College committees and contribute to institutional administration;
  • Engage in community service and outreach activities;
  • Support the College’s mission and uphold its faith-based values;
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal or Head of Department.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must:

  • Possess a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the relevant discipline from a recognised institution.
  • However, applicants with an MPhil degree and who are on a PhD programme in the relevant discipline from a recognised institution are also encouraged to apply.

Applicants should additionally:

  • Hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree and postgraduate qualifications in the respective field of specialisation;
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge and competence in their subject areas;
  • Possess teaching experience in a tertiary institution, which will be an added advantage;
  • Show evidence of research capability and scholarly potential;
  • Possess good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills;
  • Be of high moral character and integrity, with a commitment to the Christian ethos of the College.

Relevant Areas of Specialisation:

English Language:

  • English Language, Applied Linguistics, English Education, or related fields.

Mathematics:

  • Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related fields.

ICT:

  • Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, ICT Education or related fields.

Visual Arts:

  • Visual Arts, Art Education, Graphic Design, Sculpture, Painting, Ceramics, Textiles or related fields.
