OLA College of Education, Cape Coast, is the premier women’s College of Education in Ghana and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Established in 1924 by the Catholic Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles (OLA Sisters), the College was founded with the vision of educating and empowering women through quality teacher education grounded in academic excellence, leadership, service, and Christian values.
As a Catholic mission College, OLA College of Education continues to uphold its heritage of faith, discipline, and service, nurturing women to become transformative leaders and dedicated educators for Ghana and beyond.
The Governing Council of Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) College of Education, Cape Coast, invites applications from qualified and competent persons for the positions of Principal and Vice Principal of the College.
Additionally, applications are invited from suitably qualified, results-oriented, and highly motivated individuals for appointment to the underlisted teaching and non-teaching positions in the College.
THE POSITION: College Principal
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Principal is the administrative and academic head and chief disciplinarian of the College. The Principal is accountable to the College Governing Council.
- As the administrative head, the Principal is responsible for providing strategic leadership, ensuring Quality Assurance and academic excellence, and managing the College’s overall financial and administrative affairs in line with the Statutes of the College, regulations of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), decisions of the Academic Board, and other national laws and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The College Principal, who is the Chief Executive Officer of the College, must:
- be of Professorial rank in any tertiary institution/organisation and must be a distinguished scholar in Teacher Education (teaching and learning).
- possess a PhD in a relevant area or equivalent terminal degree.
- be an individual of stature and integrity with exemplary leadership skills.
- have the capacity to marshal resources needed to carry out the College’s mission and vision.
- have rich administrative experience.
- have a good understanding of the challenges facing the Colleges of Education in particular, tertiary education in Ghana, in general.
- be able to complete at least one term of four years before attaining the compulsory retirement age of sixty (60).
Be a mature individual with a proven capacity to:
- manage a College.
- foster and promote good internal and external relations of the College.
- effectively project the image of the College internally and externally.
- provide strong visionary leadership and innovation for the College.
TENURE OF OFFICE
The appointment shall be for four (4) years and may be renewable for another term of four (4) years only, provided that the full term of four (4) years is served before the compulsory retirement age of 60, or part thereof.
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

THE POSITION: Vice Principal
Duties
- The Vice Principal shall assist the Principal in the overall management and administration of the College and act in the Principal’s stead when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The applicant must:
- possess a PhD or equivalent terminal degree.
- be an individual of stature and integrity with exemplary leadership skills.
- be a distinguished scholar in Teacher Education (Teaching and Learning).
- be at least a Senior Lecturer in a tertiary Education institution or an analogous institution.
- have rich administrative experience.
- have a good understanding of the challenges facing the Colleges of Education in particular, and tertiary education in Ghana, in general.
- be able to complete at least one term of three (3) years before attaining the compulsory retirement age.
TENURE OF OFFICE
- The appointment of someone of Professorial status as Vice Principal shall be for a term of three (3) years and may be renewed for one additional term of three (3) years, provided the full term is served before the compulsory retirement age of 60.
- A Senior Lecturer may be appointed for a term of two (2) years, renewable once for an additional two (2) years, subject to the completion of the full term before the compulsory retirement age.

Duties of all Teaching Staff shall include;
- Successful candidates will be required to teach undergraduate courses, supervise students’ project work, supervise STS-related activities, conduct research, and engage in community/outreach service, among others.
- Any other related duties assigned by the Principal or his/her representative.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The applicants must:
- Have good character and a high degree of personal integrity
- Possess a PhD in a relevant area or equivalent terminal degree.
- Possess a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) certificate for
- Applicants who did not study education programmes.
- Evidence of publication and research experience would be an advantage
NON-TEACHING POSITION
System Analyst
- The Systems Analyst is responsible for analysing, designing, and implementing. and maintaining information systems to support the College’s academic, administrative, and research functions.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- possess M.Sc./M.Phil. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (Computer, Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronics, etc.), Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, and other analogous qualifications.
- have four (4) years post-qualification experience.
- have good knowledge and working experience in the field.
