Recruitment: Bia Lamplighter College of Education Invites Applications for the Positions of College Principal, Vice Principal, and Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff.

The BIA LAMPLIGHTER COLLEGE OF EDUCATION is a public teacher educational institution located at Sefwi Debiso in the Western North Region of Ghana, established by the Church of Christ and affiliated to the University of Education, Winneba.

The College Search Committee, in collaboration with Governing Council and Management, invites suitably qualified goal-oriented and results-driven persons with exceptional qualities for an appointment to the following positions:

COLLEGE PRINCIPAL

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the College.
  • Oversee academic, administrative, and financial operations.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality teaching and learning
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, including faculty, students, and the community.
  • Exhibit a high sense of industry, leadership qualities, and organizational skills, and be above reproach.
  • Attract grants and funds for Research and Development activities for the College.
  • Uphold the College’s reputation and standards of excellence in education.
  • Have a good understanding of the teacher educational environment in Ghana and other relevant educational policies,

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must:

  • Be a distinguished Scholar and a master teacher.
  • Have a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant area of specialisation.
  • Be of a rank NOT below Associate Professor in a College of Education or in a university or any analogous institution.
  • At least ten (10) years of progressive experience in teaching and/or research, including at least 5 years in a senior management or leadership role.
  • Have proven leadership skills and be a team player.
  • Have the ability to provide confidence as well as direct and motivate staff.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Possess excellent communication and inter-personal skills, capacity to manage and control crises.
  • Be able to give sound and impartial judgement.
  • Must have proven ability to lead a team and manage resources effectively.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of the educational landscape and the vision of Ghana’s educational goals.
  • Foster good relationships with the Church of Christ, government agencies, partner institutions, and the wider community.

Terms of Appointment:

  • Must not be more than 55 years at the time of application.
  • Salaries and conditions of service are attractive and comparable to similar tertiary education positions in Ghana.
  • The appointment shall be for an initial period of four (4) years and may be renewed upon satisfactory performance for another term of four (4) years only.

COLLEGE VICE PRINCIPAL

Job description:

  • Assist the Principal in the overall management and administration of the College.
  • Act as a Principal in the absence of the Principal of the College.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality teaching and learning programmes.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, including faculty, students, and the community.
  • Exhibit a high sense of industry, leadership qualities, and organizational skills, and be above reproach.
  • Work collaboratively with the Principal to attract grants and funds for Research and Development activities for the College.
  • Uphold the College’s reputation and standards of excellence in education.
  • Have a good understanding of the teacher educational environment in Ghana and other relevant educational policies.
  • Perform any other legitimate roles and responsibilities assigned by the College. Principal.

Qualification and Experience

  • Be a distinguished Scholar and a master teacher.
  • Have a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant area of specialisation.
  • Be of a professorial rank in a College of Education or in a university or any analogous institution.
  • At least five (5) years of progressive experience in teaching and/or research, including at least three (3) years in a senior management or leadership role.
  • Have proven leadership skills and be a team player.
  • Have the ability to provide confidence as well as direct and motivate staff.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Possess excellent communication and inter-personal skills, capacity to manage and control crises.
  • Be able to give sound and impartial judgement.
  • Must have proven ability to lead a team and manage resources effectively.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of the educational landscape and the vision of Ghana’s educational goals.
  • Foster good relationships with the Church of Christ, government agencies, partner institutions, and the wider community.

Terms of Appointment:

  • Must be able to complete at least three (3) years before attaining the compulsory retirement age of sixty (60) years.
  • Salaries and conditions of service are attractive and comparable to similar tertiary education positions in Ghana.
  • The appointment shall be for an initial period of three (3) years and may be renewed upon satisfactory performance for another term of three (3) years only or part thereof.

English Language, Mathematics, Religious and Moral Education, Guidance and Counselling Education, Educational Administration and Management, or Educational Leadership and Management,

Job Description:

  • Teaching
  • Setting and marking of assignments and examination questions
  • Invigilation of examinations
  • Supervision of students’ projects
  • Research and publication
  • Assisting in the administration of the departments
  • Supervision of students’ Supported Teaching in Schools
  • Providing Guidance and Counselling support to student teachers
  • Extension work/service to the College community and the nation
  • Any other related duties assigned by the principal or his representative

Qualification and Experience

Applicant must:

  • Have good character and a high degree of personal integrity and experience in teaching and learning.
  • Hold a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent terminal degree or research Master’s degree with a good first degree in the same subject area.
  • Possess a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) certificate for applicants who did not study education programmes.

NON-TEACHING STAFF VACANT POSITIONS AVAILABLE ARE;

Junior Assistant Estate Officer:

  • Have a good character and a high degree of personal integrity
  • An applicant must have a degree in a relevant area.
  • In addition to a Master’s degree in Estate Management, Land Economy, and/or any relevant discipline.
  • Or in addition to (a) have a relevant professional qualification from a recognized professional body.

Administrative Assistant:

  • Have a good character and a high degree of personal integrity.
  • An applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an Administration and Management-related area, awarded by a recognized tertiary institution. A postgraduate degree is an advantage.
  • Demonstrate outstanding administrative and leadership abilities, proven by relevant working experience and written work, including publications, reports, and memoranda.
  • Must be computer-literate.

Senior Porter

Applicant must:

  • Have a good character and a high degree of personal integrity.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised tertiary institution. Must be computer literate.
