GES Invites Application for Vacant Assistant Head Positions in Second Cycle Institutions in the Volta Region.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Volta Region has officially opened applications for the appointment of Assistant Heads in Second Cycle Institutions across the region.
In a statement dated May 13, 2026, the Volta Regional Education Office announced that applications are being invited from qualified service personnel on the rank of Assistant Director I and above for consideration.
According to the statement, the recruitment exercise is strictly limited to officers and teachers currently serving within the Volta Region.
Required Qualifications.
GES stated that applicants must satisfy the following requirements before applying for the position:
- Applicants must be graduate professional teachers.
- Applicants should be able to serve for at least four years before retirement.
- Applicants must have served in the rank of Assistant Director I for a minimum of two years.
Desired Qualifications.
The Service further explained that applicants who have previously held leadership or administrative roles within the education sector would have an added advantage.
Eligible applicants are expected to have served in one or more of the following capacities:
- Regional, Municipal, or District Education Officer for at least five years.
- Unit Head for a minimum of three years.
- Head of Department in a Second Cycle Institution for at least three years.
- Senior Housemaster or Senior Housemistress for at least three years.
- Chaplain or Imam in a Second Cycle Institution for at least three years.
- Substantive Guidance and Counsellor for at least five years.
- Dean of Discipline for at least five years.
- Deputy Director in a Second Cycle Institution for at least three years.
- Basic School Head for at least five years.

Mandatory Requirements.
GES also outlined additional requirements applicants must meet.
Applicants must:
- Be knowledgeable in current educational policies and staff welfare issues.
- Demonstrate trustworthiness and strong teamwork abilities.
- Possess good communication and report writing skills.
- Be computer literate.
- Have a very satisfactory work history and conduct within the Ghana Education Service.
Application Process
According to the statement, interested applicants are required to obtain application forms from all Municipal and District Education Offices within the Volta Region.
Applicants are expected to complete four copies of the application forms and attach the following documents:
- Confidential Report Forms
- Appraisal Forms from Municipal or District Directors and Heads of Institutions
- Fully completed Personal Record Forms with passport photographs
All completed applications must be submitted to the Regional Director not later than Friday, June 5, 2026.
