GES Announces November 16 for Payment of Outstanding Promotion Arrears to Affected Teachers

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced November 16, 2026, as the expected date for the payment of outstanding promotion arrears to staff who are yet to receive their entitlements under the 2025 promotion placement exercise.

In a letter dated October 27, 2026, and signed by the Deputy Director-General in charge of Management Services, Prof. Smile Dzisi, on behalf of the Director-General, GES Management said it was collaborating with the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) to ensure that the outstanding arrears are paid by the announced date.

According to the letter, the delay is partly linked to the closure of the Controller and Accountant-General’s payment system for the processing of October 2026 salaries. The system had been expected to receive the necessary inputs for the payment of the outstanding promotion arrears.

GES Management explained that the payment system would reopen on October 28, 2026, to allow the required inputs to be made and facilitate payment to affected staff by November 16, 2026.

The Service also assured staff that discrepancies identified in the promotion arrears payments made on October 16, 2026, would be rectified accordingly.

The Management expressed regret over the delay and the inconvenience caused to affected staff.

Regional Directors have been directed to communicate the information to all staff who are yet to receive their promotion arrears.
