The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) is set to open its recruitment portal for the 2026/2027 Military Enlistment Exercise on Friday, September 4, 2026, giving eligible Ghanaians an opportunity to apply to join the Armed Forces.
The recruitment exercise will cover various categories of applicants, including prospective regular cadets and candidates seeking admission through the Regular Career Officer Course.
The announcement follows the government’s broader commitment to annual recruitment into the country’s security services.
E-Voucher sales to begin September 3
According to the recruitment notice, applicants will first be required to obtain an electronic voucher to access the application process.
The sale of recruitment E-vouchers will begin on Thursday, September 3, 2026, and end on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
The vouchers will be available at designated Ghana Post offices at a cost of GHC200, after which eligible applicants can proceed with their online applications when the recruitment portal opens.
Applicants are advised to carefully follow the official recruitment instructions and provide accurate information throughout the application process.
GENERAL ELIGIBILITY
Eligible applicants should:
- Be a Ghanaian citizen.
- Be of good character.
- Not be married (Applicable to Regular Cadets Only).
- Not be bonded.
- Be 18 years and not more than 26 years by Thursday, 18 February 2027 (Applicable to Regular Cadets Only).
- Be medically fit by Ghana Armed Forces Standards.
- Must pass the Pre-Joining Fitness Test.
- Be of minimum height of 1.68m (5’6″) for males and 1.60m (5’2″) for females. For Military Police only, the minimum height for male applicants should be 1.75m (5’9″) and 1.70m (5’7″) for females. and
Must have the following:
- Six (6) Credits (Grade 16) at BECE including English, Mathematics and Science.
- Six (6) Credits (Grade A1 to C6) including Core English, Core Mathematics and Core Science. Or
- Six (6) Credits (Grade A to D) including Core English, Core Mathematics and Core Science. Or
- GCE ‘O’ & ‘A’ Levels. Five (5) Credits (Grade 1-6) including English Language and Mathematics at GCE ‘O’ Level and Grade A-D in three subjects at GCE ‘A’ Level.
(NB. Transcripts and Attestations at the stage of Documentation will not be accepted).
- Proficiency in any of these languages (French, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, German and Swahili) is highly desirable and an added advantage.
