Qualifications and Requirements to Enroll in Nursing Training College in Ghana: (Degree, Diploma, and Certificate programmes)
The Ministry of Health announces that the online admissions portal for the 2026/2027 academic year to pursue Degree, Diploma, and Certificate programmes is open from Wednesday, 20th May 2026 at 10:00 am, to Friday, 12th June 2026.
Applications are invited from qualified candidates for admission into any of the public health training institutions in Ghana.

BSc Degree Programmes, Number of Years of Study, and Qualifications
BSc General Nursing:
- 2-Year Top-Up: For Candidates Holding a Diploma in General Nursing.
- 4-Year Programme: For WASSCE /SSCE or its equivalent entrants who will complete the full curriculum from the start.
BSc Midwifery:
- 3-Year Top-Up: For Candidates Holding a Diploma in General Nursing.
- 2-Year Top-Up: For Candidates Holding a Diploma in Midwifery.
- 4-Year Programme: For WASSCE/SSCE or Its Equivalent Entrants.
BSc Public Health Nursing:
- 2-Year Top-Up: For Candidates Holding a Diploma in General Nursing.
- 4-Year Programme: For WASSCE /SSCE/ or Its Equivalent Entrants.
- 2-Year Top-Up: For Diploma Holders in Public Health Nursing.
BSc Psychiatry Nursing:
- 2-Year Top-Up: For Candidates Holding a Diploma in General Nursing.

Entry Requirements for Ghanaian Nationals:
An aggregate score of thirty-six (36) or better, comprising (A1 – C6) in three (3) core subjects, i.e., English, Mathematics, and Integrated Science, and in three elective subjects (A1 – C6) in any of the programmes listed below.

- Applicants Must Be 16 – 35 Years Old
- Foreign applicants must have their certificates and transcripts interpreted by GTEC and WAEC.
- Applicants should obtain professional verification when applying for the Post-Basic Programme.

Applicants with certificates in Environmental Health, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Water and Civil Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Community Health Nursing, Health Promotion, Nutrition, Disease Control, Laboratory Techniques, and other related programmes, who have served a minimum of three (3) years in their field of work and have passed an access course conducted by the affiliating university, shall be admitted to the programme at level 200. |

| Diploma/Higher National Diploma Holders (Top Up)
Applicants with a Diploma or Higher National Diploma in Environmental Health, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Water and Civil Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Registered Community Health/General Nursing, Health Promotion, Nutrition, Disease Control, Laboratory Technicians, and other related programmes with First and Second Class (Upper and Lower) honours, and who have served a minimum of three (3) years in their field, shall be admitted into the programme at Level 300. However, applicants with a Third Class shall be admitted to the programme at Level 200.

| Mature Students
Applicants must be at least twenty-five (25) years old at the time of application and must provide proof of age with a birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth. They will be required to take and pass the Mature Students’ Entrance Examination conducted by the affiliating university, and be admitted into the programme at level 100.

- Ensure you provide a personal Ghana Card number, an active phone number, and a valid personal e-mail address for all communication. Please note that using another person’s Ghana Card number or email address is not permitted.
- Applicants must provide their residential address, Ghana Card number, and Ghana Post Digital Address during the application process.
- The online application form can be accessed using the PIN and serial number on the official portal: https://healthtraining.gov.gh. The form is available exclusively through these credentials.
- Follow the step-by-step instructions provided on the portal to complete the online application. The PIN and serial number will also be required for tracking the status of your application.
- Applicants who meet the admission requirements will be invited to attend a competitive interview at the school of their choice.
