Police Inspector Interdicted Over Alleged Defilement Of 14-Year-Old Daughter
The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has interdicted Inspector Desmond Owusu Afriyie over an alleged defilement of his 14-year-old daughter.
In a statement issued on Saturday, May 9, the Command stated that the officer, stationed at Mamponteng District in the Ashanti Region, is being investigated by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at Agona District.
According to the police, the complaint was lodged on November 4, 2025, by Charlotte Samaa of Koforidua in the Eastern Region on behalf of her 14-year-old daughter.
The complainant alleged that the victim had been sexually abused by her biological father.
Police said the victim was referred to a government health facility for medical examination to aid investigations.
The statement further disclosed that Inspector Owusu Afriyie reported himself to the Agona DOVVSU office on February 20, 2026, where he was arrested and cautioned.
The suspect reportedly denied the allegations in his caution statement and was later granted enquiry bail pending investigations.
According to the Command, the interdiction is to pave the way for further investigations into the matter.
“The Ashanti North Regional Police Command wishes to assure the public of its commitment to thorough investigations into the matter and will communicate further developments,” the statement added.
