The Tema Regional Police Command has secured the conviction of two men involved in a robbery and rape case that occurred on 27 September 2025 at Okushibli, along the Apollonia–Afienya road.
According to police investigations, the 19-year-old victim, a hairdresser, had hired a motorbike rider, Nicholas Tetteh, to transport her to Afienya. On the way, Tetteh conspired with two others, including Joseph Tetteh, to attack her. The victim was dragged into a nearby bush, where two of the suspects sexually assaulted her. They also made away with her iPhone XR and handbag containing 150 Ghana cedis.
The incident was reported to the Zenu-Atadeka District Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), where a statement was taken from the victim and a medical form was issued for examination and treatment.
Following investigations, the suspects were arrested and charged with robbery and rape. They were arraigned before the Gbetsile Circuit Court, presided over by Her Ladyship Eleanor Kakra Barns Botchway. Both Nicholas and Joseph Tetteh pleaded guilty to the robbery charge and were each sentenced to fifteen years’ imprisonment with hard labour.
The police said the two convicts will also face the court again for the rape charge once the Attorney General’s advice is received.
The Tema Regional Police Command assured the public of its commitment to pursue justice for victims of crime and to maintain public safety in the region.
