Required Documents for CSC Scholarship 2026.

Completed application form: You will find it after registering on the official page of the Chinese government scholarships.

#01. Notary attested the highest degree and transcript.

#02. Official medical form or Foreigner Physical Examination Form. You must attach a copy of this form filled out by a doctor. Make sure the form is signed by the doctor and that it has the official seal of the hospital or medical centre where you did it. At least one stamp must be stamped on top of the previously attached card photograph. Forms older than 6 months from the date of application are not accepted.

#03. CV written in English or Chinese: You can attach a document that contains information about your specialty and your academic interests, or fill it out directly in the corresponding section of the application form (the space is quite short; I recommend that you attach this information in an attached document).

#04. Two letters of recommendation written in English or Chinese from your last university professors.

#05. TOEFL or IELTS Diploma if you are going to study in English and you are not a native of an English-speaking country: The minimum scores of both diplomas are specified by each university for each type of course. If you don’t have an IELTS certificate, you can also provide a simple certificate stating that your last degree was taught in the English language. It is called an English proficiency certificate.

#06. Study Plan / Research Proposal.

#07. Passport Copy.

#08. Although it is NOT an essential requirement to apply for this scholarship, if you have an HSK diploma (level of Chinese), you must attach it. The Chinese government plans to finance up to two years of Chinese-language university studies so that you reach the level of Chinese required by the program you have chosen. However, if you already have a degree, your training will be a lower economic expense, which increases your chances of obtaining the scholarship. This logic does not apply to courses that are taught in English, since enrollment rates in these courses are twice as large as those taught in Chinese.

#09. Another important but not essential requirement is an acceptance letter issued by professors of a Chinese university where you want to be admitted. Some universities prefer applicants to have an acceptance letter, and some universities have no requirement for an acceptance letter, but if you have an acceptance letter, it is a good symbol for you. If you are applying for a university with a limited quota of seats, then also try for an acceptance letter; you will be preferred.  If you are applying for a high-ranked university/universities, then you must try for an acceptance letter, you will be preferred. Start Emailing professors in October for the Professor’s Acceptance Letter. Search professors’ profiles related to your field at your desired university and send them emails, and please don’t copy emails from others; make them your own.

  • Tips: How to find the faculty of your desired university? Just go to google.com and write the University name, for example, Zhejiang University Faculty of Biochemistry or Life Sciences. You will see the faculty list. Email the Professor. If he or she is not replying, don’t start sending emails because they might be busy or they don’t need any new students.

#10. Another important but not essential requirement is the pre-admission letter from the destination university. This letter is issued by the university to inform you that you are wanted as a student. However, it is not easy to achieve, unless you have studied at that university and they know you by your merits. The advantage of having it is that it increases the chances of being awarded the scholarship for that university. If you do not have one, you may be sent to another university of your priority (during the application process, you can select three universities in order of preference) or, in the worst case, to any university they choose.

#11. Other documents: If you have research publications or any other distinction, you must attach them.

#12. If any particular Chinese University requires an application screening or an application process fee, then submit it. Print its receipt and attach it to the two sets of your documents listed above

NOTE: It is advised to choose a reliable courier service to send your CSC scholarship application documents directly to the address of the Chinese University so that they arrive in time.

From world-class universities to affordable living and unmatched cultural experiences, China offers everything an international student needs to succeed.

Below are four compelling reasons why studying in China is an opportunity you shouldn’t miss.

World-Class Education with Global Recognition.

  • China is now one of the leading education hubs in Asia, hosting over 377,000 international students in 2020.
  • With a rapidly growing number of English-taught programs and partnerships with nearly 70 countries for mutual degree recognition, China’s higher education is more accessible and globally recognized than ever before.
  • Top Chinese universities collaborate with global giants like Stanford University and New York University, strengthening academic exchange and research.
  • Even notable figures such as Michelle Obama have acknowledged China’s rising influence in international education.
  • The Chinese government invests heavily in improving education standards nationwide, ensuring that no matter which city or university you choose, you receive a truly world-class education.

Expanding Professional and Career Opportunities

China recently surpassed Japan to become the world’s second-largest economy, creating vast professional opportunities—especially for graduates with international exposure.

Studying in China gives you:

  • A strong understanding of the Chinese job market
  • Exposure to China’s fast-growing industries (tech, engineering, business, finance, manufacturing)
  • Language and cultural immersion, which employers value highly

If you learn Mandarin and understand local business practices, you can secure roles not only in China but also in multinational companies worldwide. This unique combination of skills makes you a highly competitive candidate in global markets.

Affordable Cost of Living for International Students

One of the biggest advantages of studying in China is the low cost of living compared to countries like the USA, UK, Canada, and Japan.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Meals: £2–£3 for a large meal
  • Public Transport: Less than £0.50 for a two-way ticket
  • Student Dormitories: As low as £112 per month in cities like Beijing
  • Student Visa: Around £75, significantly cheaper than visas in other major study destinations

This affordability allows international students to focus on academics without worrying about excessive financial pressure.

A Rich Cultural and Travel Experience Unlike Any Other

With 4,000+ years of history, China offers a deep cultural experience shaped by contributions to:

  • Philosophy
  • Astronomy
  • Martial arts
  • Mathematics
  • Literature and arts
  • Religion and spirituality

While adjusting to Chinese culture can take time, it is incredibly rewarding. You’ll experience a blend of ancient traditions and modern innovation that few countries can match.

China is also one of the world’s largest and most geographically diverse countries. You can explore:

  • The Himalayan mountains
  • The Gobi Desert
  • Lush forests
  • Bustling mega-cities
  • Peaceful coastal towns

High-speed trains make it easy and affordable to travel across the country, ensuring your study experience is not only educational but also adventurous.
