Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet), Norway’s third-largest and most urban university, is now accepting applications for a fully funded PhD Fellowship in Development Studies, starting 1 September 2026.

The position is hosted at the Department of International Studies and Interpreting (IST) within the Faculty of Education and International Studies (LUI).

KEY RESEARCH AREAS
The PhD project must align with the department’s thematic focus, including but not limited to:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a Master’s degree (120 ECTS credits) in Development Studies or a related discipline.
- Have achieved a grade of B or higher on their Master’s thesis or equivalent strong academic results.
- Demonstrate strong research and analytical skills, preferably supported by previous academic or professional experience.
- Have excellent written and oral communication skills in English or a Scandinavian language.
Additional desirable qualifications include:
- Fieldwork experience and regional knowledge, especially relating to the Global South.
- Familiarity with interdisciplinary research and participatory approaches.
- A demonstrated capacity for independent work and long-term academic engagement.
