Brazil Government PEC-PG Postgraduate Scholarship 2026 (Fully Funded).
The Postgraduate Student Agreement Program Scholarship 2026 (PEC-PG) is a major initiative of the Brazilian Ministry of Education, the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).
This international scholarship program aims to strengthen academic cooperation between Brazil and partner countries by offering fully funded opportunities for international students to pursue postgraduate degrees in Brazil.
The PEC-PG scholarship supports studies at:
- Master’s Degree (Full Master’s – up to 24 months)
- Doctorate (Full PhD – up to 48 months)
- Sandwich PhD (6–10 months research in Brazil)
Available Subjects
- Fields of study are open across a wide range of disciplines at recognized Brazilian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
Selected students will receive:
- Monthly stipend to cover living expenses
- Health insurance assistance
- International airfare (from Brazil to abroad, provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
- Full academic support during their studies
Eligible Nationalities
- The program is open to students from developing countries with which Brazil maintains educational cooperation agreements, particularly from Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be citizens of countries with bilateral cooperation agreements with Brazil.
- Candidates must hold a valid undergraduate degree for Master’s applications, or a Master’s degree for PhD applications.
- Proof of proficiency in Portuguese is required, as courses are conducted in Portuguese.
- Candidates must be officially accepted by a Brazilian Higher Education Institution (HEI).
- Applicants involved in research with military applications are not eligible.
Application Procedure
- Check Vacancies: Review the list of available programs and host universities published by CAPES.
- Prepare Documents: Submit the application form, acceptance letter from a Brazilian HEI, research proposal, CV, and supporting documents.
- Online Registration: Apply through the official CAPES system (free of charge).
- Selection by HEIs: Brazilian universities evaluate applications in multiple rounds.
- CAPES Review: Final document analysis and scholarship approval by CAPES.
- Begin Studies in Brazil: Successful candidates start their programs in 2026.
Important Dates (PEC-PG 2025)
- Candidate Registration Deadline: October 8, 2025 (for Master’s/Full Doctorate)
- Final Result Publication: December 12, 2025 (for Master’s/Full Doctorate)
- Studies Start: First semester of 2026
- Sandwich PhD Applications: Open until December 30, 2025, with results in May 2026
