Fake doctor arrested after 12 years of running an illegal home clinic.
Police have arrested a 48-year-old man accused of running an illegal clinic from his chamber and hall for more than a decade.
The suspect, identified as Hanson Osei, is said to have treated patients for 12 years without a medical license or any training from a recognized medical school. During police interrogation, Mr Osei reportedly admitted to attending to people despite lacking formal qualifications.
The Medical and Dental Council of Ghana confirmed the arrest and described his operation as one of several illegal practices being uncovered across the country. According to the Council, four individuals have been arrested between 2024 and the third quarter of 2025 for operating without authorization, with more cases under investigation.
The Council urged the public to be cautious and to seek medical care only from approved health facilities, warning that unlicensed practitioners pose a serious risk to public health.
