Teacher Assaulted by a hired thug at Alavanyo Wudidi Ep Primary School was compensated with Gh₵500 and whiskey.
On December 3rd, 2025, a teacher at Wudidi EP Primary was assaulted by a man named Delase, who acted on behalf of a pupil’s grandmother.
The incident occurred after the grandfather initially asked the teacher to punish his grandson for not doing homework.
The police arrested Delase and took him to Kpando, leading to the school’s closure.
After police engagement, Delase was bailed, and the case was handed over to the chief and elders for resolution.
On December 9, 2025, the chief and elders of Wudidi convened a meeting to resolve the case.
The meeting was attended by the DD HRMD of Hohoe Municipal GES, Mr. Solomon Amankwa (Nana), the Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation officer, Madam Nuriyatu, the STEM officer, Madam Elizabeth, the SISO of Alavanyo Circuit, Madam Saviour Nartey, District GNAT chairman for Hohoe, Mr. Desmond Korby Vorvor, the Alavanyo Local GNAT chairperson, Madam Ruth Hededzi, the SMC chairman of Alavanyo Wudidi, PTA chairman, and others.
In the meeting, it was revealed that Delase acted to address perceived teacher misconduct (no caning policy).
Delase pleaded guilty after a long deliberation and sought forgiveness.
The resolution:
He was asked to:
- Pay an amount of GH₵500 to the assaulted teacher for medical bills
- Write a letter guaranteeing teacher safety and good behaviour
- Send a letter of apology to the Hohoe Municipal Director of GES.
- two bottles of whiskey and a letter to the police
- Provides items as punishment for disgracing the community and for traditional prayers – a Ram, 2 bottles of Castle Bridge, and a keg of palm wine.
