NTC Has Open Registration For 2026 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) 1.
The Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) is a national professional exam conducted by the National Teaching Council (NTC) in Ghana for qualified teachers.
It is mandatory for every teacher trainees who has finished an accredited teacher education program and want to be officially employed to teach in Ghana to write this exam and be licensed.
The purpose of the GTLE exam is to;
- Ensure teachers meet national professional standards
- Improve the quality of teaching and learning
- License qualified teachers for professional practice
Eligibility for the Licensure Examination 2026.
A candidate is eligible to write 2026 GTLE 1 only when he/she has a Bachelor of Education Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Education
Candidates with foreign degrees shall provide a certificate evaluation report from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to prove their eligibility

Registration Fees and Charges.
- The indexing fee is fifty Ghana Cedis (GH₵00). Re-sit candidates shall not go through the indexing process
- Fresh candidates shall pay four-hundred and fifty Ghana Cedis (GH₵ 450.00) for three papers.
- Candidates re-sitting a paper must pay GH₵ 150.00
- Candidates re-sitting two (2) papers must pay GH₵ 210.00
- Candidates re-sitting all three (3) papers must pay GHc 385.00
Mode of Payment.
Payment can be made at any branch of Prudential Bank Ltd nationwide, or mobile money payment can be made through the short code *772*51# across all networks by using the candidate’s college or university index number.
When the short code is dialled, this interface will pop up: NATIONAL TEACHING COUNCIL mobile payment service.

- 3. Retrieve Voucher. Select number 1 (Teacher Licensure) and follow the prompt.
After successful payment, the candidate will receive a message that contains his/her name, indexing number, and further instructions

- Registration Deadline: 10th March, 2026
- Examination Date: 23rd to 25th March, 2026
