NPP BIGWIGS IN COURT TO SUPPORT ABRONYE
Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo Markin, and National Youth Organiser of the NPP, Henry Nana Boakye, were all in court to support the Bono Region Chair of the NPP, Kwame Baffoe (Abronye), as he reappeared on Friday, September 12.
The Ghana Police Service, on Tuesday, 9th September 2025, put Abronye before the Circuit Court, Accra but he was remanded into Police custody to reappear on Friday, 12th September 2025.
The Police arrested Abronye after accusing him of offensive conduct.
A short statement issued by the Police said, “The Ghana Police Service has today 08/09/25 arrested Mr. Kwame Baffoe @ Abronye for Offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace.”
He is currently in custody and will be put before the Court, the statement added.
Leading members of the NPP have been reacting to this news on social media.
For instance, Former CEO, National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme, Kofi Ofosu Nkdsanh wrote on his Facebook that “Under IGP Dampare, people from both parties were arrested when they flouted the law.
“IGP Yohunu only arrests and posts NPP suspects on their page. Azorka is still walking free after attacking Buga and threatening others live on TV. NDC Police, keep it up.”
Similarly, a former PRO of the National Youth Employment Agency, Awal Mohammed, wote on Facebook, “Chairman Abronye has been arrested. The Ghana Police Service has now provided NDC communicators with the picture to share before officially posting it on their page, similar to what happened with Sir Obama. Dangerous precedent!”
