Mamprobi Polyclinic’s ‘baby thief’ arrested.

The Ghana Police Service at Dansoman has arrested a woman suspected of stealing a newborn baby from the Mamprobi Polyclinic, bringing relief to the child’s family and the local community.

The infant was safely recovered and reunited with his mother at the police station before being taken to the polyclinic’s gynecology department, where she is receiving medical attention.

The arrest follows the tense events of Tuesday afternoon, when the father discovered that their child had been kidnapped.

Videos circulating online showed the distraught father confronting hospital authorities and demanding access to CCTV footage to help identify the suspect. The footage reportedly captured the alleged thief in action, enabling police to respond swiftly.

Ablekuma South MP, Alfred Oko Vanderpuye, played a key role in coordinating with both the police and the hospital to ensure the safe return of the child. The Gender Minister and other local MPs were also present during the reunion.

Family members expressed relief in an interview with Adom News.

Authorities have reassured the public that measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Police investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the alleged baby theft and whether the suspect acted alone or had accomplices.
