Are you a passionate young filmmaker ready to tell stories that inspire change?

The AU–EU Youth Voices Lab-Power of the Collective is expanding its network of young filmmakers across Africa and Europe.

This exciting opportunity invites creatives aged 18–35 to join a Young Filmmakers Database and contribute to documenting powerful stories of youth-led advocacy and social change.

If you are passionate about storytelling and want to use film to amplify real impact, this is your chance to get funded while building an international portfolio.

About the Young Filmmakers Database.

The AU–EU Youth Voices Lab is creating a database of talented filmmakers from selected countries across Africa and Europe. This database will serve as a pool of creatives who can be engaged on a project basis to document:

  • Youth-led advocacy moments
  • Community impact stories
  • Social transformation initiatives

Selected filmmakers will produce short documentaries (3–15 minutes) that highlight narratives of change, resilience, and influence among young people.

Funding and Benefits.

Filmmakers selected from the database will receive:

  • €765 to €1,800 per project activity (per filmmaker)
  • Opportunities to collaborate with international organizations
  • Increased visibility across Africa and Europe
  • Portfolio development through impactful storytelling
  • Access to cross-continental networks

Payment structure:

  • 50% at the start of the assignment
  • 50% upon successful completion and approval

What You’ll Be Doing

As part of this initiative, filmmakers will:

  • Produce documentaries and short-form social media content
  • Capture real-life stories of youth impact and advocacy
  • Film events, interviews, and community activities
  • Deliver high-quality edits, subtitles, and transcripts
  • Collaborate with program partners and incorporate feedback

Who Should Apply.

This opportunity is ideal for young creatives who:

  • Are between 18 and 35 years old
  • Have experience in documentary filmmaking or storytelling
  • Are skilled in filming, editing, and sound production
  • Own or have access to filming equipment
  • Are passionate about youth engagement and social impact
  • Are willing to travel when required

How to Apply

Interested applicants must submit their application through the Young Filmmakers Database Application form (Google Form available on the official platform).

  • Applications submitted via email will not be accepted
  • If applying as a team, only one member should complete the form

Be sure to review the Terms of Reference before applying (available in English and French).

Deadline.

  • This is a rolling application, meaning submissions are reviewed on an ongoing basis.
  • However, positions are limited, and applications may close once the database is filled. Early application is strongly encouraged.
