How to test if your Jute mallow seeds (Ayoyo seed, Ademe seed), okra, tomatoes or pepper are viable for planting.

How to test if your Jute mallow seeds (Ayoyo seed, Ademe seed), okra, tomatoes or pepper are viable for planting.
One of the conditions for a seed to germinate is that the seed must be viable.
A viable seed has its embryo live and can germinate when other conditions, such as;
- moisture,
- suitable temperature,
- air, and
- Enzymes are present.
Do you have pepper seeds, okra seeds, tomato seeds, or Jute mallow seeds (Ayoyo seed, Ademe/edewu seed)?
You don’t know if it is still viable or not?
Because it has been kept for a very long time.
This is what you should do to test the viability of your Ayoyo seed, Ademe/edewu seed, within a few minutes.
- The first thing to do is to get some charcoal fire.
- Fetch some of the seeds, about ten to fifteen of them.
- Put the seeds in the fire carefully and observe for some time.
- When the seed is viable and good for planting, the majority of the seeds you put in the fire will break to give a popping sound.
- If 12 seeds out of 15 break to give you a pop sound, then the seed is very viable and you can rely on it for planting.
But if only a few or none break to give the pop sound, then the seeds are probably not viable and can not germinate well.
What to do if you want your Jute mallow seeds (Ayoyo seed, Ademe seed) to germinate well and faster?
- Get viable Jute mallow seeds / Ayoyo seeds.
- Get very warm ash.
- Pour the warm ash on the Jute mallow seeds / Ayoyo seeds.
- Stir it thoroughly for some time.
- The Jute mallow seeds / Ayoyo seeds will make popping sounds, and the embryo will open.
- After that, sieve it from the ash.
- Now your Jute mallow seeds / Ayoyo seeds are ready for sowing.
- This will cause it to germinate well.
Note that you can also put the Jute mallow seeds / Ayoyo seeds in a hot pan and roast them for some time.
And you will still get the same result.
What to do if you want your Okra seeds to germinate well and faster?
- Get viable okra seeds of your choice.
- Fetch water into a bowl or container.
- Pour the okra seeds into the water
- Allow it to stand for about 2 to 3 hours.
- After that, sieve the okra seeds out of the water and go and sow them.
Try this and your okra will germinate very fast and well.
For tomato seeds
- Get ash and water.
- Mix the tomato seeds or pepper seeds with the ash.
- Then pour a small amount of water on the seeds, mix with the ash.
- Leave it for about 4 to 6 hours
- Separate the seeds from the mixture, or you can still nurse seeds with the ash mixture.
