According to NACOC officials, the arrest forms part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on the illegal drug trade in the region.

In a related development, NACOC has arrested a British and two Ghanaian accomplices at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) for attempting to smuggle 38 kilograms of compressed substances suspected to be cannabis into the country.

The arrest was made after security personnel intercepted two pieces of luggage containing 25 slabs of the illicit substance.

The suspects were apprehended during a routine inspection at the arrival terminal. Upon further examination, officials discovered the suspected narcotics concealed in the false compartments of the suitcases.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects were working as a group to transport the substances, which were tightly wrapped and labelled in a manner consistent with international drug trafficking methods.
