16-year-old boy leaves emotional farewell note for parents; ‘I cannot stay with you anymore’
Residents in Efiakuma in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region have been left in shock after a 16-year-old boy left home unannounced, leaving behind a heart-wrenching note in which he accused his parents of not loving him.
Parts of the emotional note read, “You don’t love me, I cannot stay with you anymore.”
According to his mother, Mama, the incident occurred on Sunday while the family was at church.
On their return, they discovered his absence and a handwritten note explaining his decision to leave.
“He was supposed to go with us to church but he refused. We went to church and came back to meet his absence. He left a note indicating we don’t love him, but we do love him so much. We are asking the public to help us look for him, we want him to return home,” his mother told Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson, host of Connect FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show.
The family has since reported the case to the police and presented an extract to Connect FM, appealing to the general public for assistance in finding the boy.
The letter, left by the teenager and addressed to his parents, reads:
“Daddy, Mummy, I really love you and appreciate you for what you have done for me. But you all don’t love me. I cannot stay with you anymore and I’m leaving this letter behind because I want you to know that I have left home and I’m not lost so don’t look for me and I will never return. God will take care of me so I’m saying goodbye to you all. Thank you. This is me, Emma.”
The emotional note has left family members distressed, with the mother reiterating their love for her son and pleading for his safe return
The police are currently working to trace the whereabouts of the teenager.
